The Story of Cascade Hotel
The owners of the Cascade hotel are two brothers and the two hands on the logo symbolize the brothers' joint activity in the foundation of the hotel. And the hands held in the form of triangle symbolize the brothers' upsurges that they aspire to. Though the hotel has opened recently it has its own unique background information: in the past you could see the brothers' ancestral home in the place where the hotel is now. The guests were always welcomed with generosity and hospitality. Therefore the family usually had guests even from different countries.
The brothers inherited that humane tradition from their ancestors. And the latter played great role in the conception of the hotel foundation. So today their traditional hospitality and generosity are for the guests of the Cascade hotel. They even brought some kind of furniture from their old house, such as a clock and a piano, so that the guests of the Cascade hotel always feel as if they are at home. The sitting-room of the Cascade hotel looks like a living-room of a house. However entering the hotel the tourist guests' first impression is a luxurious house but not a hotel.
The Cascade Stairway
The Cascade is a giant stairway in Yerevan, Armenia. It links the downtown Kentron area of Yerevan with the Monument neighborhood. Inside the Cascade, underneath the exterior steps is an escalator going the length of the complex. There are also rooms connected to some of the landings along the escalators which comprise the Cafesjian Museum of Art.
The exterior of Cascade, in addition to stairs has multiple levels with fountains and sculptures. The stairs afford walkers unobstructed views of central Yerevan and Mount Ararat.
Construction began during Soviet rule, but stopped with the chaos that accompanied the disintegration of the USSR. The complex was purchased by an American-Armenian businessman Gerard Cafesjian in the early 2000s and a complete renovation was performed. A large museum complex was also planned for the top. Although construction began, it was frozen in the early stages and has not continued for years.
